What Should I Know About Feline Kidney Disease?
For whatever reason, cats tend to be prone to kidney disease. In some cases, feline kidney disease is caused by a sudden illness or trauma. When this happens, most of the damage to the kidneys can usually be reversed. However, chronic kidney disease, which is not brought about by sudden changes in the cat’s body, is more common and sometimes less easily treated.
As the speaker in this video makes clear, chronic kidney disease is caused by scar tissue building up and blocking the filtration systems within the kidneys. Owners may not notice any change in the cat for quite some time, because it’s only when two thirds of each kidney have been overtaken that the organs begin to fail.
